Visa Sponsorship in Germany

Hey Reader,

Happy "new normal" in Germany. We had a change of the leadership since I last wrote, and there's already a lot of talk about what, (if anything) will change for the country.

Today I will talk about one major point I thought of earlier, as far as getting your Visa sponsored in Germany.

What should you do when someone says "We don't sponsor work visas."

Is that really the case?

Or is it rather they would like to avoid the extra work associated with your relocation?

(By the way, last year I had a full 1-hour interview with Theresa Walther, an expert in all things Visa's and relocation in Germany. If you want that interview link again, happy to send that to you.)

I always advise my clients to take control of the process themselves as early as you can. You need a job offer. With that job offer, you can make it known that you are prepared to take care of all of the extra steps, in order to start at the office on the date you have in mind.

This is something obviously each candidate needs to be ready to invest time and resources into doing, but you should not let an employer use any easy excuse such as "not able to sponsor a work visa."

Take it under your own control.

Take all of the job search, interview, and negotiation process under your own control, frankly. But this is a major topic of confusion and breakdown between German employers and international job seekers.

Getting sponsored does NOT have to include so many extra costs that scare the employer. Take that off their plate of doubts.

The focus needs to be on whether you are the best fit for the job. Making that the sole focus of your interview. And that is something I can help you with.

Don't let technical difficulties in your eventual relocation prevent you from going through the interview process first.

If you want to learn about how to position yourself better in your first interviews, send me an email, and i'll tell you about what we're doing right now in the Expats Job Miracle.

That's my tip of the week Reader.

Best,

Kevin
