Wonderful news to share this week as one of my clients got a job in Berlin!
Originally from Türkiye, Tolga had experience in Germany before, then bounced between Istanbul and Canada, before arriving last year on the Opportunity Card back into Frankfurt. Then he turned that into a successful job offer.
Here's what Tolga said about his journey:
"I had the know-how and experience - I knew what to do, when to do it, and how to approach the market. Yet things simply did not work out as planned. The German business landscape was clearly very different from what I had experienced before leaving the country in 2005. I was struggling to build a new professional network, my emails and LinkedIn connection requests often went unanswered, and I found it difficult to get my story heard."
This is definitely understandable by the way. Even since 2016 the market has changed so much, let alone 2005! He went on to write:
"Very quickly, things started to change. I began expanding my LinkedIn network with the right people, arranging one-on-one meetings with hiring managers, and, most importantly, getting my story across.
A journey like this requires patience, resilience, and adaptability. You have to keep adjusting your strategy and tailor your approach to every employer. There is no single formula that works for everyone. That is where a good coach makes a real difference. A coach won't let you lose momentum. Instead, they keep challenging you, encouraging you, and helping you try different approaches until one finally works.
