Reader Just wanted to pass along something that made my week.
A guy I’ve been working with, Olgu, called me last Friday. It was one of those quick “do you have 5 minutes?” messages on LinkedIn.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. His interview with a big e-commerce company recently went fine, we thought. But he was waiting to hear back.
When I picked up the phone he said this:
"Hey Kevin, I got a call from the recruiter today and she told me that they are happy to offer me a contract. I was happier than her after the call!"
He starts in Berlin next month.
I think what hit me most is where he started. From sending out 600 applications and getting no interviews, to finally getting one shot… and then turning that into an offer.
That first interview changes everything. Suddenly it’s not about filters or perfect keywords anymore. It's about real people, and real conversations.
If you’re still in that phase where you're stuck in the silence after applying, just know that getting the first interview is not only the hardest part.
It’s also the tipping point.
This week I'm reminded why I do this work :)
Let me know if I can help you like I helped Olgu.
Kind regards,
Kevin
