Hey Reader,
Short one today but I will tell you a cool story.
First off, lets be honest, getting a job in Germany right now is extremely tough. So I applaud you when you still look for other jobs while you are working at your current firm.
You never know what can happen on a day-to-day basis. So I think it is smart to keep your options open, unless you know you'll never leave your current firm.
The reason I say this is because one of my clients basically decided to contact me because he wanted to *prepare* for the situation in 6 months where he might not have his contract extended.
No, not that he was just laid off and now he needed a new job. He was being proactive.
So I worked with this gentleman since January, but it was a bit different than normal because he didn't want to get connected with managers every week yet.
He rather just wanted to make sure his documents were best prepared, along with his online biography, so that just in case he needed to find a new home - he was in the best position.
This is great thinking ahead.
So just last weekend I got an email from him. He had secured a new long-term position at his firm. And he thanked me for the positioning he was able to take when he prepared like his current job wasn't secure.
This just goes to show: whether its better positioning in your current company (that could be a raise or promotion) or if you need to find a new employer entirely...
We can help you with both.
He didn't really want to leave his current company. But he also wasn't super confident that he was going to stick around much longer.
So he prepared, got help ahead of time, and positioned himself all the way to a promotion.
Sometimes it takes going to the very end when you are negotiating with someone before basically saying "If you're not interested, I'm going to walk."
Only then will some people listen to you.
Short reminder today to stand up for what you deserve or take action to make a change.
You would like to work on negotiating, personal branding, or positioning skills for your current role?
Send me an email back and we will discuss options outside of the EJO course to help you with that, like I did with Jonathan.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
