Hey Reader,
Don't be alarmed by this but I don't mind the start of fall.
August felt quiet with vacations and less conversations with hiring managers. But I am excited for September because people are returning to their desks, restarting interview processes.
Every year it's the same. The job market gets a jolt as decisions are taken seriously again to add into the team.
That's why we always started in September. It's the best time to focus your efforts and increase the chances of getting interviews.
I've seen it just last year: Ruth (who you read about last week) landed her offer, Yadid got his offer in Berlin, and this is the time period where I got my first offer in Germany. These turning points usually happen after summer.
And another benefit of this year; is that it's not only Germany. We'll also look together at opportunities across Europe to strengthen your chances.
For example, I think back to when I was only applying into Berlin, then I switched to applying into Hamburg as well. That was after I went another interview process for a month before being told no.
The first job I ever applied to in Hamburg I got. That taught me again the benefit of being open minded to alternatives, even though I always wanted to move back to Berlin (where I studied). Maybe you want to try that too, testing out another city where you can still take the train easily on weekends, but is perhaps a bit less competitive.
From next week, I will be out contacting managers again.
If this feels like the right thing for you too, reply and let me know. I'll share the details with you directly.
Getting a job solves most of your problems.
Hoping it works out for you too.
